Members Graham & Cate Hansen took out the Most Successful Exhibitor
when the prizes were given out after the competition results.
Champion & 1st Grass-fed Steer Carcase. EMA 94sqcm 8mm P8 fat, 3mm rib fat,
1st Grain Fed Heifer Bazadais / Brahman. Above average EMA 88sq cm. The carcase dressed at 55.81% measuring 5mm P8fat, 8mm rib fat 2nd Pen of Three Steers

 

Bazadais gain praise in debut - Mackay Show Trade Competition
 
Only four Bazadais cross steers were entered and came from John McFarlane's
 Greenmount Bazadais Stud at Walkerton.
 Bazadais Brahman/Brangus cross won the under 350kg class. Bazadais Brahman cross won 2nd
 place and equalled top points for market suitability. Another milk tooth Bazadais Brahman
 Angus gained 1.96kg per day during the 100 days on grain in the feed lot and exited the lot
 with a live weight of 700kg

92.5 out of 100points to win the heavyweight class and Grand Champion out of 53 steers.
15mm fat at rib, 98 sq cm EMA, 5/5 for meat colour and
10 for ossification a measure of weight for age and 10 for fat distribution

1st Melbourne Royal ‘98 Jap Ox Export Carcase
Bazadais cross 86.1 points 348 kg HSCW14 mm fat @ P8 site. Yield 60%, 93 sq cm Eye Muscle Area,
good marbling, even fat cover, finishing 7 points ahead and yielding 6% more than his nearest rival.

Grand Champion Carcase
Bazadais steer 221 - 280kg HSCW 6 - 11mm P8. Placed 3rd in Led competition
and won overall with 7 mm fat P8, 10 mm fat rib 81 sq cm EMA, meat colour 10 pts,
fat distribution 8 out of 10. Butt C+.

1st Sheffield School Show Hoof & Hook Carcase 2000
Reserve Champion Carcase Overall.
16 month old steer 564kg live weight, 348kg dressed, yielding 63.7%. 7 mm fat P8 site, 8 mm at rib
. The steer received a 7 for muscle score and B- butt. 10 pts of ossification (weight for age)
2.4 for marbling and 5out of 5 for fat distribution.
